Moving fathers from the margins to the centre of family support
Fathers want to be involved in their children's lives. They bring unique strengths, perspectives, and capabilities to parenting. Yet too often, family services inadvertently exclude them through assumptions, language, timing and environments that do not represent them. This toolkit is designed to help family hub practitioners and leaders recognise and dismantle the barriers—cultural, institutional, operational and professional—that prevent meaningful father engagement. Drawing on research and practice examples from across the UK and internationally, it offers concrete strategies to ensure that every father, regardless of his circumstances, knows he is welcomed, valued and essential to his child's wellbeing.
