The LGA is a cross party organisation and its decision-making arrangements are politically balanced, reflecting the combined political composition of the authorities within its membership.

Our political balance
The LGA Board uses the proportionality figures as the basis for negotiating the allocation of chairs and vice-chairs and populating all our member boards.
Political groups
There are four political groups at the LGA – Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat and Independent – each supported by a group office.
