EMP-1-2026 Police staff pay 2026
Dear colleague
The Employers’ Side has been notified by the Trade Union Side of its pay and conditions claim for 2026 which is as follows:
- a one-year claim
- an increase of nine per cent or £2,700 per annum on all PSC pay points, whichever is the greater
- an increase of nine per cent on standby allowance and overnight away from home allowance
- a minimum pay rate of £15 per hour
- an Increase in the minimum annual leave from 24 to 25 days on appointment and from 29 to 30 days after five years’ service
- removal of the current overtime bar at pay point 24 so that all police staff are eligible for overtime payments regardless of pay grade.
The Trade Union Side will submit its full written claim shortly, which the constituent parts of the Employers’ Side (National Police Chiefs Council, Association of Police and Crime Commissioners and the Home Office) will begin to consult on. We intend to respond to the Trade Union Side with a view to reaching an agreement in time for the settlement date of 1 September 2026.
We will update you further on developments.
Yours sincerely
David Algie
