Our Civility in Public Life programme continued to provide tools and resources to help address growing concerns relating to councillor intimidation and harassment.
Overview
More than 550 councillors benefited from our webinar series, which covered issues including public safety and handling online abuse and intimidation.
We also published our Councillors' guide to handling harassment, abuse and intimidation, which offers practical steps that councillors can take to protect themselves as a person in a public position.
Highlights
During 2022/23, programme highlights and achievements included:
- more than 550 delegates attended civility in public life webinar events
- more than 90 per cent of webinar attendees said they felt the session they attended had improved their understanding of civility in public life
- we ran bespoke workshops for councillors on personal safety, handling online abuse or managing aggression at 13 councils.
