Overview

This theme covers web accessibility, user research and feedback, and the look and feel of the online experience.

In addition to obvious web accessibility issues as set out in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards, it is important to consider the online experience of people who are not ‘digital natives’ or are digitally sceptical or hostile. Problems can range from overcomplicated online processes to the use of ‘web-speak’ language which is off-putting to those who are not fluent in it.

Points to consider

  • Have you co-produced your online experience with people who might draw upon care and support and unpaid carers?
  • Have you tested your online journey with people who do not normally use the internet?
